WEST Midlands League Premier Division leaders Causeway snatched a late goal to deny Westfields victory in an action-packed encounter at Rotherwas.
Quicker to the ball, Westfields dominated the early play and deservedly took the lead in the 16th minute when Matt Morris slammed the ball home from close range after good work by Alex Winstone, Derek Craddock and Mark Hibbard.
Hibbard and Craddock went close to extending the lead but the league leaders fought back into the game and almost got on terms through striker Simon Dixon, who was denied by a superb save from Jon Pugh.
Outstanding home striker Robbie Weaver saw fierce drives rebound from the bar and an upright before visiting substitute Damian Whitcomb put Causeway back on terms with a firm header.
The visitors surged forward in search of a late winner but were held out by a determined Westfields defence.
