Shawbury United 4 Ledbury Town 0

A BELOW-PAR Ledbury slumped to a sorry defeat in the Premier Division of the West Midlands League.

The Herefordshire club were without three key players through injury and manager Paul Wilband, who was taking an FA coaching course, and they conceded three goals in a disappointing first-half display.

Shawbury opened the scoring from a controversial penalty and Ledbury fell further behind following a defensive mix-up involving Lee Clueit and talented young goalkeeper Lewis Skyers.

The home side added a third goal before half-time and rounded off the scoring after the break.

Ledbury Town 2 Star 1

Former Cinderford Town player Stuart Smith grabbed an outstanding individual goal and was then sent off for dissent in a midweek encounter.

Trailing 1-0 at half time, Ledbury stepped up a gear in the second half and equalised after Smith skipped past five visiting players and then fired home.

Prolific marksman Rob-bie Colwell clinched victory for Ledbury when he converted a penalty.
