Smethwick Rangers 5 Bromyard Town 2

BROMYARD went to sleep in the last quarter as the Smethwick substitute came on to fire a late hat-trick and win a West Midlands League Premier Division basement battle.

Teenage striker Gordon Beauchamp showed good pace to race clear of the home defence and skilfully slide the ball past the advancing goalkeeper to put Bromyard ahead, but Smethwick hit back on the stroke of half-time.

A well-struck Smethwick free-kick gave goalkeeper Jamie Lambert no chance but the home lead was short lived when mid-fielder Neil Mogford surged forward to rifle home an equaliser.

The introduction of a substitute striker by Smethwick completely changed the game and within minutes of joining the fray he put his team ahead. Bromyard flagged and the young striker went on to complete a fine treble.

Bromyard Town 2 Brierley & Hagley 2

Skipper Scott Morris bagged a brace for Bromyard in an action-packed midweek fixture against high-flying Hagley & Brierley.

Home defender Dave Phillips lost possession and the visitors broke clear to take the lead in the 12th minute. Ten minutes later Morris got the first of his goals when he headed home a cross from Matthew Upton.

Play continued at great pace after the break and Brierley regained the lead when a shot-cum-cross looped over goalkeeper Andrew James.

With time running out Morris latched on to a through ball to race clear and found the target with a delightful chip.
