Hinton 2 Lye Town Res 1

HINTON produced another good attacking performance to keep up their challenge for a top two finish in the West Midlands League Division 1 South.

There was plenty of action at both ends with Hinton going close in the opening minutes, Lye almost opening the scoring when their striker headed against the cross bar, and Craig Edwards responding with a powerful header which was brilliantly saved by the visiting goalkeeper.

Young striker Chris Williams was prominent and he set up the opening goal for Ross Semple who showed fine skill in swivelling to fire home a fierce volley.

Lye came back strongly after the break and drew level when they broke down the right to beat teenage goalkeeper Craig Harris with a cross-shot.

This spurred Hinton into action and they duly claimed the winning points when Williams rolled a pass for Edwards to slam home.

The win took Hinton to third spot.
