MARCH OF WITNESS -- On Good Friday morning, members of Christchurch and Gorsley Chapel will be joining folk of all ages from the churches in Newent to walk through Newent in a 'March of Witness'. The procession will leave St Mary's church at 10.45 am ending with a service at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at 12 noon.
MUSIC MAKERS -- Congratulations to the young men and women of the Salters Hill Charity who live at Pound Farm, Gorsley on winning a grant of £800 from The West Midlands Arts Grass Roots Fund. They will now produce their own CD under the direction of Mark Bick who has been conducting their musical workshops for the past four years. Some of the residents like to sing, some enjoy playing musical instruments, whilst others prefer to compose songs and tunes. Their latest composition is called 'Tilly the Pig', and is all about their adopted Kune Kune pig called Tilly, who lives happily on the farm with a friendly Jersey cow. The West Midlands Arts Grass Roots Fund was established to fund a variety of projects in rural areas, and enables people who do not normally take part in arts activities to express their artistic talents in many different ways. It also aims to bring in new audiences and develop the skills of those participating and organising.
