WOMEN'S INSTITUTE -- At the February meeting, members were entertained by an Antiques Road Show quiz given by Mr Chris Rogers. Items of jewellery, watches and silverware, etc were taken along by members and Chris was able to give details of the history of the objects, and the dates they were made. Many treasured possessions were shown, ranging from beautiful hand-made teapots to mysterious items found in the garden. Tea was served by Mrs Goulding and Mrs Byers wearing the smart aprons especially made by Mrs Byers for the catering activities of the group. Mrs Gurney ran the produce stall, and the raffle prizes were won by Mrs Harding and Mrs Dallas.

VILLAGE HALL -- Following a meeting with the architect and the community council advisor, to discuss details of the proposed refurbishment of the hall, the committee has now begun to apply for grants. It is estimated that the total cost will be somewhere in the region of £172,000 and the village will have to raise 10 percent of this sum. The raise the necessary funds a programme of events has been arranged for this year, and all residents are urged to support these events.
