June Buckridge, the middle-aged star of a popular BBC radio drama serial finds her personal life and career disintegrating with the arrival of Mercy Croft, a BBC executive who announces that her character, Sister George, will have to be killed off.
Mercy then makes a play for Alice with devastating consequences.
