MEMBERS of Leominster's fledgling community bank, the Money Box Credit Union, celebrated the project's fifth birthday with chocolate cake and glasses of wine.
Those at the gathering in the union's West Street office were encouraged after six new members joined, all of them juniors.
Said treasurer Laurence Hughes: "The Money Box welcomes children as well as adults. A Credit Union is an excellent way to encourage children to save and to learn how to manage their money before they reach adulthood."
Mr Hughes said the next important event on the Money Box calendar was its AGM on February 19 at 7.30pm in the Talbot Hotel, Leominster.
He said all members were urged to attend. It was an occasion when the membership would vote on the amount of dividend they can receive on their savings.
Members would also be asked to vote on new legal and regulatory resolutions and the way 'Money Box' develops following changes in the way Credit Unions are to be regulated.
