DEVELOPERS of a well known city landmark have turned to school pupils for inspiration.

St James' Primary School children have been working with Laing Homes while the construction company refurbishes the former Hereford General Hospital, which was built in 1783.

The developers are to build 42 new homes on the site of the Grade II listed Georgian building and have been visiting the nearby school to share their building skills with the lively kids.

Children have been taught how to build a giant tetrahedron and also shown how to renovate 19th century buildings, similar to the work being carried out at the hospital.

Angela Barnard from Laing Homes said: "The workshop promoted team skills, and an understanding of some of the processes and decisions involved in house building and renovation. It was very successful and extremely popular with the children."
