Following on the from the fantastic Raising the Roof Remixed dance event last February, The Courtyard is teaming up with DanceFest and State of Emergency to offer a series of dance workshops during school half term.
The workshops will take place from February 17-21 and are for young people aged 12 and over who want to learn some new street moves or pick up on the hottest African dance styles.
There are two series of five workshops. The morning session (10- 12.30) will be taken by Francas Angol teaching African based contemporary dance. The afternoon session (1.30-4) focuses on jazz and contemporary fusion and will be led by Anita Letane.
State of Emergency will be performing their new show The Mission 2003 at The Courtyard in May. Incorporating sophisticated contemporary grooves, hip-hop and street dance, jazz, spoken work, satire and humour, it will capture all the freshness and daring of Black dance.
Further information and booking forms are available from The Courtyard's Edgar Street box office on 01432 359252.
