A £794,000 'ticket to ride' boosts bus services across the county. The cash is coming from Government over the next three years with new routes running by summer.

Routes that will run into and out of remoter parishes says Graham Dunhill, director of environment with Herefordshire Council.

In North Herefordshire, for instance, Lingen, Kinsham and Byton will be linked by a six day 8am-6pm service between Leintwardine and Presteigne. Further south, Bredwardine, Tyberton, Preston-on-Wye and Moccas can all connect with Hereford via Madley - picking up and dropping off on request.

A weekend evening service to Dorstone and Peterchurch is also on the way, as is a 'shuttle' serving Kilpeck, Little Birch, Orcop Hill and Garway.

Other areas, particularly parishes around Kington, will see existing services improved.

Some bus stops can be booked ahead, making pick-ups from home possible.

And the bus that stops could be smaller - better able to operate on rural roads.

All the new routes should connect with key services to Hereford, Ross-on-Wye, Leominster, Ludlow, Abergavenny and Monmouth.
