WHEN the on-trade sales team at Bulmers lost their colleague, Emma Farr, to cancer they vowed to do something special in her memory.

In June, seven members of the team will fly to America to ride the famous Route 66 on Harley Davidson motor bikes, 2448 miles of highway from Chicago to Los Angeles across eight States.

Nat 'King' Cole, amongst others, made it famous in his song, 'Get Your Kicks on Route 66'.

Now, the Hereford based fund-raisers, are heading for Route 66 with a mission to raise £40,000 to buy a Radiotherapy Ultrasound Localiser for the Oncology Centre at Cheltenham Hospital in memory of Emma, who died last year leaving a husband and a three-year-old daughter.

The choice of the Harley Davidson for the marathon ride is appropriate, as this year is the 100th anniversary of what is recognised as the ultimate life-style motorbike.

Said Caroline Parrett, the only woman in the bikers team, who worked alongside Emma in Bulmers head office: "Losing Emma to breast cancer made us all think more deeply about the affects of this terrible disease and how we could do something practical in her memory."

She added: "We are seeking sponsors from throughout the Three Counties region which the centre at Cheltenham serves, and especially from our many friends and colleagues in licensed retailing around the UK."
