WOOFFERTON stretched their advantage at the top of the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Premier Division to four points following a 3-1 away victory over basement side Pegasus.

Pegasus' ground staff worked tirelessly on the pitch before the kick-off to ensure that the surface was playable.

Once the match got underway, the experienced home side passed the ball well, although without causing problems for the table-toppers' defence.

Although Pegasus had the majority of the first period, and looked menacing at set-pieces, the visitors created the more clear-cut opportunities.

Woofferton eventually broke the deadlock after half-time when Kevin Phasey's shot from the edge of the box took a deflection before entering the net.

The villagers swiftly doubled their lead when Steve Minton latched on to a deep cross from Simon Lane and slipped the ball home.

Struggling Pegasus reduced the deficit with an own goal from visiting defender Mark Tonkinson but Woofferton hit back strongly, restoring their two-goal cushion through Duncan Edwards.

In-form Wellington moved into second spot after a comprehensive 2-0 away triumph over second-from-bottom Weston, who had two players sent-off for violent conduct.

Weston had a defender red-carded early in the second half for a foul on Rob Parsons and they had a second defender dismissed in the dying minutes for another nasty challenge on the young striker.

The reigning league champions opened their account on the half-hour when teenager Cory Hyde, making his first appearance for the team, collected a neat pass from Parsons before slotting the ball home.

And the same combination was also responsible for Wellington's clincher, which the impressive Hyde scored from close range. Weston's sole attempt at goal saw Ian Phillips' effort headed off the line by Wellington defender Simon Edwards.

A hat-trick from Chris Price swept an inexperienced Leominster side to a convincing 6-0 home triumph over Sutton United.

Leominster survived an early scare when Sutton hit the woodwork and they struck back in sensational fashion, opening up an emphatic 4-0 lead by the interval.

Price opened the scoring, finishing off an Adie Bennett cross and then Leominster regained possession from the kick-off and Price squared the ball for Aaron Baudon to score on his debut.

Leominster started to overrun the visitors and Adie Bennett finished off a superb move to add the home side's third before Price notched the fourth goal on the stroke of half- time.

Immediately after the interval, Price notched his treble from close range and then Steve Evans robbed a visiting defender to complete the rout.

Despite the scoreline, Leominster did not have things all their own way and Mark Jackson, making his goalkeeping debut, pulled off a couple of excellent saves.

Ross United Services came from a goal down against Hinton to secure a convincing 4-1 away victory.

An early opener from Hinton sparked the visitors into action and Services equalised when experienced marksman Bobby Hatch set up Alan Gain to score.

Goal-scorer Gain then turned provider, sending in the corner which his brother Steve, a centre-half, knocked into the net and, after the break, Alan made the game safe for the visitors when he added his second. Ross finished the match strongly and Hatch sealed the win with a fourth goal late on.
