PAINTERS will meet holders Westfields in the final of this season's Hereford Times HFL Journal Cup after beating Ewyas Harold 2-1 in a hard-fought semi-final.

Harold, who had home advantage, applied early pressure with Nobby McBride sending a header wide and then Steve Radziejowski shooting narrowly wide.

Painters then enjoyed a brief period of pressure before Harold went ahead midway through the first half when James Mackie and Ryan Tabb combined to set up Ben Corner, who beat Painters goalkeeper Dean Mayo-Evans with a neat chip.

Although Harold continued to have the upper hand, they failed to create many clear-cut chances and Painters drew level through Mark Mortlock, who acrobatically finished off a cross from impressive substitute Craig Forsyth.

After the interval, Corner had a couple of chances to restore the home side's advantage, while John Dallow went close for Painters after rounding the Harold goalkeeper.

With time running out, Painters' Wesley Owen scored the winning goal, rifling the ball home after neat approach work by Forsyth.
