Pegasus Juniors 2 Wootton Bassett 0

PEGASUS recovered from a sloppy first-half display to record a morale-boosting victory in the Premier Division of the Cherry Red Records Hellenic League.

During the first half several good saves from man-of-the-match Matt Taylor, who played through the pain barrier after picking up a thigh injury, kept Pegasus in the match.

At the other end, Pegasus' Gavin Stone had two difficult chances that he felt he should have taken.

After the break, the home side played with more determination and showed a greater will to win.

In the 55th minute, Matt Gray won the ball and found Stone who beat two defenders before finding Neal Hotchkiss and he picked his spot from just inside the area.

The Hereford-based side tried to double their advantage soon afterwards, but Del Ewers' shot was comfortably saved by the visiting goalkeeper.

Taylor then made a brilliant save to push a goal-bound free-kick onto an upright as Bassett almost grabbed an equaliser.

Experienced marksman Pete Wallace then hit the top of the bar for Pegasus before Hotchkiss and Adriano Girolami combined to set up Ewers in the 85th minute.
