Bromyard Town 1 Kington Town 4

KINGTON came from behind to give a strong second-half performance and get the better of their Herefordshire rivals in a hard-fought West Midlands League Premier Division derby.

Both teams struggled to come to terms with the heavy going and early play was confined to midfield.

Recent Bromyard signing Danny James opened the scoring in the 20th minute when he forced the ball home from close range following a scramble in the Kington box.

This spurred Kington into action and they got back on terms just before the break when Martin Powell exchanged passes with Mark Davis to fire home from 12 yards.

Kington could have gone clear within minutes of the restart when both Powell and Andy Clarke were through on goal, but both were denied by fine saves.

On the hour Clarke hit the target with a superb 30-yard free-kick and he followed up with a fine solo goal when he broke down the left and cut in to round the goalkeeper.

Substitute Chris King completed victory when he supported a break by Davis to score with a crisp drive.
