Wellington 3 Sedgley White Lions 1
WELLINGTON consolidated their position in the top half of the West Midlands League Prem-ier Division table with a winning team performance over visiting Sedgley.
They made a bright start and looked a different side from the team which crashed out of the League Cup in midweek at Bustleholme.
Early pressure was rewarded when Matthew Pugh showed great composure to fire past a couple of defenders in a crowded box after being set up by Tom Herbert.
Liam Craig extended the lead when he converted a penalty awarded when Keith Jones was upended in the box.
After the interval Wellington continued to play good football and they went three up when a lovely move involving Michael Prince, Jones and Andy Sherlock was finished with a crisp shot from Jones.
Sedgley did not give up and, with 15 minutes to go, their fighting spirit was rewarded with a well-worked goal.
However, the young Wellington side did not lose their shape and they kept out the strong- finishing visitors to claim a deserved victory.
