Malvern Rangers 2 Leominster Town 0

WITH several first team players unavailable, Leominster's inexperienced team battled hard before conceding two late goals in their West Midlands League Division 1 South clash.

The reshuffled young team did particularly well in the first half when they played up the slope against a stiff wind.

Ben Price was foiled by the glue-pot conditions and then saw his pin-point cross headed wide by a diving Daniel Stack. Gareth Jones also just missed with a header when well placed.

At the other end Leominster's Bob Phill-ips made two excellent saves, diving at the feet of a Malvern striker and then tipping a 20-yard drive over the bar.

There were fewer chances created in the second half as the surface cut up and made control difficult.

With a draw looking the likely result, Malvern broke the deadlock in the 85th minute when substitute Lee Brookes poked the ball home as it bobbled around in the Leominster box.

Leominster then push-ed up in search of an equaliser and were caught out as Malvern launched a swift counter-attack for Brookes to notch his second goal.
