A MOTORIST was killed and two people injured in a collision involving two articulated lorries and a tow truck near Symonds Yat yesterday.
The fatally injured motorist, a man, was discovered underneath the trailer of one of the lorries. Two other motorists suffered head and leg injuries.
The accident happened at 5.40am one-mile south of Symonds Yat on the A40 near the bridge to Ganarew.
Two ambulances from Hereford and one from Gwent attended, as well as police and fire fighters from Ross-on-Wye, Whitchurch and Gloucester.
The A40 was closed for several hours while the scene was investigated and made safe.
The dead man, who is not from Herefordshire, had not been formally identified at the time of going to press.
