Longtown Mountain Rescue Team is racing against time - the Big Black Mountains Challenge this year runs anti-clockwise around Llanthony Priory. Funds raised from the three-route event, 43km, 27km, and 16km, boost the team's operational capability, a new control vehicle being the pressing priority.
The Challenge now attracts around 600 walkers and runners from all over the country. Entry details for the May 17 event are on the team's www.longtownmrt.org.uk website or available via S.A.E from Big Black Mountains Challenge, Longtown Mountain Rescue Team, P.O. Box 36, Monmouth NP25 5YZ.
