MADAM, With dogs hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons - ie 'dog-napping', I have a refreshing tale from the river bank.
On Monday I was walking the Wye near Braemar Gardens with my Welsh and Fox Terrier when I noticed a distinct lack of the latter. After much calling it became apparent he had become trapped at the bottom of a bank which was too steep for me to get down and out on my own.
Along came a gent with his two black labradors and with minimum fuss he was down the bank, grabbed the petrified dog and passed him up to safety and then scrambled up himself.
This showed the true spirit of animal lovers and I will always be thankful to him for his own episode of pet-rescue.
