A LIST of locations for Led-bury's new library will be unveiled next month by Herefordshire Council.

A public meeting is being held at Ledbury Primary School on March 19 from 7pm.

The present library, in the Elizabeth Barret Browning building, will not be able to meet new disabled access legislation due to come into force next year.

Council spokesman Harriet Binet confirmed that the Master's House building on St Katherine's car park is one of the options being looked at.

The council has declined to name others, as the list is yet to be finalised.

Herefordshire councillor Don Rule said he was optimistic that the Master's House will be the new venue.

However, he warned that because of the building's Grade II listed status any changes would have to be approved by the council and English Heritage and would be very expensive.

He said consultation would be carried out with the town council and the Ledbury and District Society before any changes took place.

Meanwhile, another public building in danger of falling foul of the new regulations is the Grade I listed Market House, where the town council holds its meetings.

There has been a long running debate over how the structure could be amended to meet the new regulations.

An exhibition on possible solutions will be mounted at the town council offices in Church Street.

It can been seen from Wednesday, February 19, to the following Friday, from 11am to 2pm. There will also be evening opening on the Thursday, from 7pm and 9pm and in the morning on Saturday, February 22, from 10am to noon.

A public meeting will then take place in Ledbury Community Hall on Tuesday, February 25, from 7pm. The exhibition can be seen from 6pm in the hall.
