A NEW hall is to be built at Bromesberrow CE School to give pupils more space for PE, assemblies and lunch.

Judy McCarthy, chairman of the governors at the school, said the present hall was not really big enough for the school's 46 pupils.

The new facility would allow them to bring in more equipment for games and PE, giving the opportunity to teach a wider variety of games and sports.

It would also be used for collective worship, school plays, dinners and by the friends of the school association, which would use it for fundraising events.

However, Mrs McCarthy added that it was unlikely to be used by the wider community as there is already a village hall in Broms-berrow.

A planning application has been lodged with Forest of Dean District Council to build the hall, and if permission is granted work should start in June or July.

The school kitchens are also to be re-furbished as part of the programme of improvements.
