rushing off to a house blaze halfway through the event did not prevent Ledbury's firefighters from raising more than £1,000 for good causes on Sunday.
The crew were busy washing cars in Tesco car park when the call came, but they returned with both engines to finish the job.
They still managed to clean more than 200 vehicles, raising £1,011, which will be split between the Firemen's Benevolent Fund and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Co-organiser Melanie Denning said: "My son Owain, who's two, has CF so it meant a lot to me that the firemen, who all have full-time jobs, were prepared to give up their Sunday and did it with such enthusiasm, raising much-needed funds for both charities."
