PLANS for work at the Grade II Listed Stretton House have had to be put on hold.
The building, to the east of Stretton Grandison, is the subject of two planning applications, to build a three-bay garage, hobby room, driveway and new balustrades and to make alterations to outlying buildings.
Neighbours have lodged objections to the plans with Herefordshire Council, saying that the peaceful character of the area will be altered.
They have also raised fears that noise from the hobby room would disturb them.
However, planning officers had recommended approval, concluding that the new drive would have minimal impact on the rural nature of the site, and that the proposed hobby room was isolated enough to prevent noise pollution.
But last-minute changes to details on the plans meant a decision had to be deferred when councillors met last week to decide on planning permission. The scheme will now be decided on March 5.
