A SINGLE-storey house is to be built on a site in Wellington Heath despite the concerns of nearby residents.
The new home will be built on Floyd's Lane, which is three metres across at its widest point and has no passing places.
Objectors said the road would not be able to cope with the extra traffic. There were also objections that the proposed two-storey house would overlook neighbouring gardens.
It was also pointed out that since the previous buildings there were knocked down in the 1960s several other applications to develop the site have been turned down, with the width of Floyd's Lane the most recent reason for refusal.
However, council officers told councillors new Government guidelines meant the road was now considered capable of coping with the anticipated extra traffic.
Councillors approved the application, with the condition that the new house should not be above one storey high.
