Bromyard teacher Emma Brice, who left for a six-month voluntary aid trip to Tanzania on Monday, is thanking residents for helping her raise £5,500.

The 27-year-old St Peter's primary school teacher will leave electricity and running water behind during her time in West Africa, where she hopes to spread awareness about health and environmental issues during the trip organised by Student Partnership World-wide.

The last fundraising event, a concert by the Tredegar Orpheus Welsh Male Voice Choir at St Peter's Church, will take place tomorrow (February 8).

The school has already handed over £1,000 to Emma for the project and extra money raised at the event will be sent on to her.

"I have been really overwhelmed with the generosity of so many people in Herefordshire and Worcestershire, without whose help the project would just not have been possible," said Emma.

"My target of £4,000 has been met and the further £1,500 will help the charity fund more projects in Tanzania. I will regularly update the St. Peter's School website with news of how the project is going, this can be viewed at http://www. bromyard-stpeters.ik.org."

Tickets to the concert are £5, and available from Food for All or by calling 01885 483237.
