Ledbury entertained local rivals Bromyard for this mid season reverse and what a contest it proved to be.

LEDBURY U11s 0, BROMYARD U11s 7pts

A momentary lapse in the opening two minutes was the only real difference between the sides when the visitors ran in the only try of the match, which was well converted against the wind.

From the re-start, Ledbury found themselves camped in the visitors' half. Rob Houlbrooke and debutante Chris Savidge recycled the ball particularly well.

Good defensive tackling by Bromyard was to deny the homesters, in spite of excellent forward work from James Ford, James Smith and Alex Bain, who consistently won ball against the put-in. An inspired interception by Dan Allam just before half time was to go unrewarded as the ball went loose as he crossed the line.

The second half was a near copy of the first with 100 per cent commitment from Ledbury just not paying the deserved dividend. The frantic pace continued, catching the referee out at times, with continued quality tackling in both offence and defence.

An excellent carry by the out-of-sorts George Seed saw him crash over for another disallowed try, the ball going forward in the dive.

A good scrummage ensued, Ledbury ball going down the line to Tom West who just couldn't break through in spite of his pace and new found aggression.

All in all, a marvellous contest with Stuart Clark and Dominic Matthews well worthy of a mention for their 'never say die' approach.

Next week, training at Ross Road, 10.30am.
