A MAJOR revamp planned at Leominster Bus Station has been slammed by a town councillor as a waste of money.

Molly Cooke told the town council the bus station was in the wrong place in a "rat run" of main roads and the entrance to the Somerfield supermarket.

"It is diabolical, it is dangerous, it is an accident waiting to happen," she said. "Herefordshire Council can throw as much money at it as they like, it won't make any difference."

The bus station is to be closed for 14 weeks from mid August for an upgrade that will include provision of better bus shelters and safety improvements.

Bus stops will be moved temporarily to a former bus station site nearby at Dishley Street car park. Fifty car parking spaces will be 'lost' there during the period.
