THE culmination of the Nationwide Conference season means everything to everybody connected with the club.

I am aware what the supporters think - they have not had a lot to shout about over the last five years.

But for the players, in particular, it's a culmination of nine to 10 months' hard work and they are desperate to secure a place in the play-offs. If we slipped now it would be devastating for them.

I am convinced that we can finish strongly. It's not entirely in our own hands but on the basis that the top teams will be playing against each other at certain times, then points will be dropped.

We have got experience but we are mostly youngsters and, over a long season, I think we have coped fairly well.

I have been very pleased with the contribution of Richard O'Kelly. He has got a great rapport with the players and has tremendous enthusiasm, which is vital to the club.

Yeovil are by far the best side in the Conference and are certain to win the league, leaving six clubs to battle it out for four play-off places.

I think we have been the victims of some poor refereeing decisions in our last two matches.

When a referee sees an opponent kicking one of your players, and admits to seeing it, I find it hard to believe that he feels it's not a sending off offence. It's absolutely staggering for a referee to say that. The laws of the game are quite clear and the offence is a straight red card.

In my mind, if the referee had taken control of the situation at Yeovil when Danny Williams was being kicked on the ground, I don't think John Grant or anybody else would have got involved in the melee that followed.

I do not condone what happened but I think that the referee has to take some responsibility - he appeared to be out of his depth in this high-profile match.

We still have a lot of work on our hands in making the play-offs, but I'm convinced we can do it.

It is the first time since dropping into the Conference that we have had any chance of regaining our League status.

We now need the support of the floating fans, the ones who come for the bigger matches. A good atmosphere and plenty of vocal support will help our cause enormously.
