HEREFORD United's all-time leading football league goal scorer is to run the London marathon to raise money for a young child with cerebral palsy.
Although former Bulls favourite Stewart Phillips retired from the game 10 years ago, he has kept himself in shape at his Archways gym, and hopes he will still be fit enough to help Belmont youngster William Gregory.
"I have run a few half marathons and recorded good times at that distance, but I know the step up is a big one and I have been training hard and running more than 50 miles a week to build up my stamina," he said.
Jane Gregory could not believe it when Stewart offered to run on behalf of her three-year-old son and explained how the sponsorship money would help.
"William has some water on his brain and has to travel to London for professional treatment. The money will be a massive help to pay for the specialist equipment and all the travel and accommodation costs in the capital," she added.
If you would like to help William by sponsoring Stewart, please call the Archways Health and Fitness gym on 01432 354359.
