Canon Pyon PLAYING FIELDS -- The next committee meeting will take place at Treetops on March 13. Clearly the community views are best represented by having a cross section of ages on the committee and Lynn Pugh, the secretary, tells me that anyone with an interest in the field will be made more than welcome, and young people doubly so.
CHARACTERS -- Following last week's reference to a previous rector here, I'm reminded of the time that the Rev. Roberts, vicar of Canon Pyon some 60 years ago, came across one of the older residents of Westhope and enjoyed the following exchange: "Our Good Lord died on the Cross for all of us," he said. Mrs Smith, somewhat startled, replied: "Well, we don't get much news here, Vicar, but let's hope it weren't true."
