FARMERS MARKET -- The change of venue for last Saturday's Knighton Farmers' Market does not seem to have had any impact upon attendance at the event, in fact some of those present thought that the Drill Hall provided an excellent location. Bookings for places at the next market, sponsored by www.bordersoftware.com, on Saturday, March 22 are already showing a 25 per cent increase on February and new products include fresh trout, newly-baked bread & a variety of cheeses. The March Market will be back in the main Hall at the Community Centre. The organisers of the farmers' market and Powys Food Link would like it noted that the initial approach to, and all arrangements with, the BBC Country File programme, who featured the January market in a recent edition, was made by Welshpool-based Cambrian Training, and that they were also responsible for carrying out various training activities with Dolau based Dolithon Meats. If any local producer, charity or good cause is interested in attending any of the markets planned for the last Saturday of the month during 2003 then they should contact Mark Jarvis on 01686 650256.
