ALL those aiming for a healthier environment and more supportive communities, should drop in on a series of lectures at the Courtyard in Hereford on April 12.

The Schumacher Lectures involving Soil, Soul, Society and Health will take place from 2pm to 6pm at the Hereford based theatre.

Lectures will include 'the global economy and how to survive it' by the director of the International Society for Ecology and Culture and author of 'Ancient futures, learning from Ladakh', Helena Norberg-Hodge.

Satish Kumar will talk about his 8,000 mile 'peace walk' to the major capitals of the world as well as his experiences as editor of Resurgence Magazine and programme director of Schumacher College.

One of the country's leading experts in environmental medicine, Dr Sarah Myhill will be on hand to speak about avoiding cancer and living to be 100 by counteracting environmental toxins.

Other attractions include visual arts, music, theatre as well as workshops for children and young people.

The eco-literacy programme also offers residential weekends in the Golden Valley covering subjects such as organic gardening and herbs, meditation health and well-being and the web of life throughout the summer.
