Westfields 3 Wolverhampton Casuals 0

WESTFIELDS retained their two-point lead in the West Midlands League Premier Division when they found the target three times in the second half to register their 21st league victory of the season.

With both Casuals and the three match officials delayed by a traffic jam on the M5, the match kicked off an hour late.

Both sides struggled to settle down in a first half punctuated by driving rain and thunder and lightning, and Westfields were grateful to goalkeeper Mark Hopkins who made two superb saves to deny the visitors an interval lead.

Within minutes of the restart Westfields took the lead when Chris Jefferson finished off good work by Paul Price and Matt Beale by slipping the ball past the advancing Steve Booth.

Hopkins made a stunning double save to stop Casuals getting back on terms before the introduction of substitutes James Watkins and Robbie Weaver produced a second goal for Westfields.

Weaver's fine shot was tipped past the post but Wayne Hoskins headed home the resulting corner by Watkins.

Westfields were now on top and Watkins confirmed victory with a sweet low drive.
