Pegasus Juniors 0 North Leigh 2

PEGASUS acquitted themselves well against the title favourites of the Cherry Red Records Hellenic League Premier Division in atrocious conditions.

The determination of the Hereford outfit was such that their goalkeeper James Morgan was only called upon to make two excellent saves and he could not be faulted for either of the visitors' goals.

The first period was tightly contested with neither goalkeeper being tested as both teams struggled to master the windy conditions.

Heavy rain and lightning greeted the start of the second half and, at one stage, there was a possibility that match would have to be abandoned.

The leaders promptly adopted a direct approach and opened the scoring in the third minute of the half when Mark Lewis dived to head home a corner.

North Leigh's Andy Hamp forced Morgan into making two superb full-length saves before the visitors doubled their advantage on 80 minutes from a controversially awarded penalty.

Straight from the restart, Leigh Harris almost capitalised on a defensive lapse in the visiting defence but the North Leigh goalkeeper pushed away the striker's effort.
