Kerry 2 Presteigne 0
ROBBIE Gore was red-carded in stoppage-time as Presteigne crashed out of the Central Wales Cup in atrocious conditions at the third-round stage.
Presteigne had an early opportunity to open the scoring when Tom Ammonds threaded the ball through to Graham Hughes, but the home goalkeeper made an important block.
Danny Bicker also went close to opening Presteigne's account before the home side drew first blood from the penalty-spot on 20 minutes following a foul by Dave Lewis.
Johnny Williams had a goal-bound effort cleared as Presteigne searched for an equaliser but the home side mastered the near-waterlogged conditions well and always looked threatening in attack.
After the break, Dave Lewis had a header well saved and Bicker was thwarted by the home goalkeeper before Kerry took advantage of a defensive lapse to deservedly open up a two-goal lead.
Presteigne's disappointing afternoon was compounded in injury time when Gore was red-carded for a foul.
Meanwhile, Presteigne Reserves' Mid Wales League South away clash against Newcastle was abandoned at half-time because of a waterlogged pitch, with visitors trailing 4-0.
