THE controversy surrounding Hereford Rugby Club's Powergen Midlands 2 West match at Bedworth has taken another turn with two visiting players now cited for alleged violent play.
And the English RFU at Twickenham, who have been keeping in touch with developments, are likely to take over the disciplinary procedures of the ill-fated clash.
The referee says in his report that he abandoned the match at Bedworth on February 15 when Hereford became unable to field a full front row for contested scrums.
That followed injuries requiring hospital treatment to three of their players and Hereford cited four Bedworth forwards for alleged thuggery.
Bedworth have cited two Hereford players for incidents after one of their forwards, hooker and former Warwickshire captain Gareth Tregilgas, required hospital treatment for a mouth wound which required 50 stitches.
RFU Midlands press officer Paul Bolton confirmed that the matter was to have been considered by a joint Warwickshire and North Midlands disciplinary committee.
But now RFU disciplinary officer Bruce Reece-Russel has said that the joint committee were delegating the matter to Twickenham and he was awaiting written confirmation of this.
