MADAM, I refer to the claim (Hereford Times, Feb 20), that Roland Vaughan created waterways and used boats on them and that this was another 'first for the county'.
However, the 11-mile Fossdyke Navigation was dug by the Romans 1,800 years ago to link the Witham to the Trent and is still in use today.
