The inaugural meeting of Ledbury Youth Theatre took place on Wednesday at the Market Theatre.

It attracted 17 teenagers from as far afield as Bishop's Frome and Lugwardine.

The youth theatre is a joint venture between John Masefield High School and Ledbury Amateur Dramatic Society, which owns the theatre.

Sue Millington-Jones, of LADS, was delighted that youngsters from other towns and schools wanted to get involved.

She said: "A lot of interest was shown. It's good for them to get to work in a real theatre. We could do with some more boys, however, as only three were there."

The group will stage its first production in June and is open to anyone aged 14 to 18, working on stage or behind the scenes.
