HOCKEY star Jenny Rogers, a pupil of John Masefield High School, Ledbury, has been selected for Wales at U16 level.

Jenny, who plays for Worcester Norton Hockey Club, is the latest of many junior internationals to emerge from the club's development programme and will take part in a three match test series against France in Lille over the Easter period.

She joined the club two and a half years ago after having been spotted on the National Hockey Talent Identification Programme. A striker/midfielder she rapidly worked her way up through the teams and is now in the first team squad which has just won the Midland Premier League Championship.

She is the key midfield player in the success of Worcester Norton's second team who are at present leading Worcestershire Division One.

She is a regular player for Worcestershire and was selected to represent the Midlands at the National Championships in October. She has twice been to Holland with the Midlands to the Valkenswaard International Youth Tournament to play against Belgium, USA, Zimbabwe, Switzerland and Austria.

Jenny was also the main striker in Worcester Norton Hockey Club's U15 National Championship winning team last year.
