Bromyard romped to their highest league win for some years with this rout of North Midlands One bottom-placed Five Ways.

BROMYARD 61pts, FIVE WAYS OE 6pts

In front of a large crowd of sponsors, Bromyard took the lead on four minutes through a Piers Gaunt penalty. Straight from a scrum, following the restart, Gaunt made a 40-metre break to the line but was stopped just short. He popped the ball to full back Rich Moger who fell over the line.

Five Ways hit back when Bromyard indisipline gifted them three points in front of the posts.

The next 10 minutes saw pressure from the home side who went on to dominate the remainder of the match.

The next try was by hooker Simon Fryar who dived through a ruck to touch down, Gaunt converted. Three more tries were scored before the break.

Moger scored again following some good work by the forwards, then winger Ainsley Ralph went over after a good break from Richard Harrison. Five Ways kicked another penalty but, following a ruck five metres out, scrum half Simon Lloyd spun the ball to Nick Frost. He was unstoppable from 10 metres to score in the corner, leaving Bromyard comfortably ahead 30-6 at the turn round.

The second half started in the same vein as Frost fed Moger for his hat-trick score, which was well deserved. Following a period of sustained pressure, it was left for Scott Holloway to crash over for a try, which Ainsley Ralph converted. More solid scrummaging from Bromyard let Gaunt run to the blind side of the field, where he found Stuart Harrison waiting to pounce in the corner for Bromyard's eighth try.

With fresh legs in the second row in the shape of young Gareth Walsh, Bromyard were consistently first to every ruck and maul. It was from a Walsh break that Ainsley Ralph broke four tackles to score under the posts for Gaunt to convert.

In the last minute, Simon Lloyd broke from a ruck and ran 30 metres, before passing to skipper Nick Frost, who rounded off the day by side stepping his way under the posts for Gaunt to convert.

Bromyard played well and this was good experience for their younger players. However ageless prop Malcolm Squire was named man of the match by the referee.

The BRFC website player of the month for February was 40-year-old flanker Ian McCulloch.
