Ledbury RFC U13s travelled to Evesham on a blustery Sunday morning.

LEDBURY U13s 15 pts, EVESHAM U13s 7 pts

Ledbury started slowly and, with Evesham pushing from the word go it took only 10 minutes for them to score a try and conversion. This woke Ledbury up and they drove forward hard, with scrum-half Dan Redman putting in some great tackles and Will Topham making good runs from full back.

Ledbury's pack was working well as a unit, winning ball from scrums and line outs, recycling efficiently in the loose and combining to tackle the larger Evesham forwards. This gutsy performance ignited the team's self-belief and was rewarded by a try just before half time from second row Matt Jones.

Ledbury started the second half where they left off the first and five minutes later Matt Jones scored his second try (and 5th this season) as he used his speed to outrun the Evesham backs, making the score 10-7 to Ledbury. Ledbury needed one more try to secure the game and this came from a great drive by blind side flanker Chris Powell. Even though the game was effectively won, Ledbury kept pushing and were close to being rewarded with another try when the full time whistle went.

Congratulations to the whole team for such a great performance, easily the best of the season. Man of the match was awarded to Matt Jones.

This Sunday Ledbury U13s are playing away at Drybrook - meet at 9.30am, Ross Road.
