Hereford United travel to Northwich Victoria on Saturday with the aim of avenging an earlier 2-1 defeat and consolidating their challenge for the play-offs, writes Glyn Wictome.

The game will be played at Witton Albion's ground as Northwich are currently without a base as their Drill Field Stadium site is being redeveloped.

Hereford will come up against player-manager Jimmy Quinn, the former Swindon manager and player who helped out United on a non-contract basis a couple of years ago. Although well into his forties, Quinn has been a regular on the bench and generally gets on for part of the game.

Northwich were among the teams who did the Bulls a big favour on Saturday when they travelled to beat fourth-placed Doncaster. With second-placed Chester losing at home to Forest Green, and third-placed Halifax going down at home to Barnet, Hereford's wins over Nuneaton and Margate have taken them into the top three.

Mid-table Northwich have only won three home matches this season, but Bulls boss Graham Turner is not underestimating the task facing his team.

He commented: "Northwich will be keen to build on their win at Doncaster and we will have to produce our best form to get a result."

United will be without midfielder Danny Williams, who is completing a three-match suspension in just eight days.

Justin Rowe, a promising 19-year-old striker from Grosvenor Park, has signed non-contract forms for United until the end of the season and will train with them as much as his studies at North Birmingham College will allow.

Troy Douglin, a young defender recently released by Torquay, will also have the opportunity to impress Turner when he joins the Bulls for training.
