Hereford United will be aiming for their first Nationwide Conference double of the season when they meet Woking at Edgar Street this Saturday.

The Bulls were good value for their win at Woking in a game shown live on Sky Sports in September when a goal from Matt Clarke and an own goal secured a 2-1 victory.

United boss Graham Turner said: "We did well at Woking but we cannot underestimate them because, although they've had a disappointing season, they have a lot of quality players in their team.

"We go into the game with a lot of confidence having played well in the games against Wigan and Dagenham without the ball running for us, but getting a very good win in our last match against Barnet."

United are able to select from a full squad but with three players, Michael Rose, Steve Guinan and Danny Williams, on four bookings, Turner is hoping that they do not collect yellow cards which would rule them out of the holiday fixtures.

Woking lifted themselves out of the bottom four last Saturday when they beat Halifax 2-1 at home, while United had an enforced mid-season break when their scheduled opponents Margate were in the second round of the FA Cup, losing 3-0 to Cardiff City.

Hereford face another blank Saturday on January 4 because their scheduled hosts Farnborough Town will be at Darlington in the third round of the FA Cup, but Turner is hoping to use the date for a rearranged match.

Carlisle midfielder Mick Galloway, who recently completed a two-month loan period at Hereford, has been linked to Gretna Green, who play in the Bell's Scottish Third Division.

United are still keen to sign the experienced Galloway on a permanent basis or another loan period. But, with Galloway's family living in Glasgow and a possible settlement with Carlisle in the offing, this would appear doubtful.

l United held an informal shareholders' meeting on Monday and Turner said that the club were hoping to extend the deadline date for the repayment of their £1million debt, due in May, 2003.

Talks are ongoing with property company Carillion Richardson, who have taken over Chelverton's interest in Hereford United. There could be a possible two-year extension but Turner said that a five-year arrangement would offer the club far more stability.
