CASH-strapped Hereford United will be £100,000 richer after Sky Sports' decision to broadcast live coverage of their FA Cup first round clash with Second Division leaders Wigan.
Edgar Street director Joan Fennessy described it as brilliant news and said the money was a real lifeline for the club who are more than £1million in debt.
The tie will be screened at 5.35pm on Saturday, November 16, and the club are hoping for a crowd of more than 4,000 to further boost their funds.
"It's great news and an absolute lifeline for the club," said Fennessy.
"£100,000 sounds a lot of money but when we are battling to keep the club afloat it really is a huge boost.
"We've got no-one to put money into the club and we have to survive on what we've got."
It is the second year in succession that Hereford's FA Cup first round match has been shown live on television after the BBC broadcast the Bulls' tie with Wrexham.
