A COUNTY village used to seeing male pin-ups may be relieved to find sweeter faces on next year's calendar.

Miss January in Norton Canon is angelic Amelia Smith, pictured taking her doll and teddy for a walk in a pram.

Last year villagers turned the first page of their calendar to find a half-naked man clutching a brace of pheasants.

This year's pictures are all by amateur photographer Brian Whitney, who for 2003 has created a calendar featuring children, including sons and daughters of last year's topless models.

Last year, the calendar raised £16,000 for St Michael's Hospice.

This year Brian's chosen charity is the Acorns' three counties appeal, supported by Hereford Times readers, to build a children's hospice in Worcester.

"Being a father myself I have an empathy towards children. It's a marvellous idea to have this hospice at Worcester to look after these children," he said.

He has printed 400 Country Children's calendars. Outlets include Chadd's stationary department, Hereford; Kidzin shoe shop, Church Street, Hereford; The Courtyard; Acorns Hospice Shop, Eign Gate, Hereford; Londis, Credenhill; Post Office, Norton Canon; The Three Horseshoes, Norton Canon; Post Office, Weobley; Teagowns and Textiles, Broad Street, Leominster and from Brian Whitney on 01981 590469.
