A BIG-HEARTED city primary school teacher is asking at least 2,000 people 'to Bat' for a children's charity.

If possible Mary Schiavon, who runs Trinity Primary School's unit for children with physical disabilities, would like every household in Hereford to buy her puzzle book in aid of Acorns Children's Hospice.

"A lot of our children have used Acorns for respite care. It has been a lifeline for families. It will be much easier if there is a hospice closer to home," said Mary whose fundraising is for a new hospice in Worcester.

She has been supported by Reprodux Printers, Hereford, who gave a generous discount when she ordered 2,000 copies of Bat for Acorns. The family books are available Hereford's Acorns Hospice Shop, Tourist Information, The Courtyard, Baynham Garage and the Pound Shop.
