Hereford United's youth team have equalled the feats of past winners Birmingham City, West Bromwich Albion and Wolves in landing the Midland Floodlit Under-18 Youth League Southern Division title.
The United side, who are linked with the Pershore Group of Colleges, had an outstanding campaign, losing just twice in 20 league matches.
Some of the youngsters even turned out for the Bulls in friendly games and youth-team coach Gary Stevens hopes that one or two will eventually break into the first-team ranks.
Nine of the 18-strong squad are taking the BTEC sports science course at Pershore and of the other nine, some are attending Herefordshire schools or colleges, while a couple have jobs.
Stevens said: "We have a couple of young strikers in Chris Mortlock and Adam Kite and a defender Paul Brown - all Herefordshire boys - who are showing a lot of promise. In the past local boys like Kevin Sheedy, Chris Price, Steve Emery and Ian Rodgerson have started their professional careers with United and have gone on to play at higher levels in the Football League."
The Hereford players are eligible to play another season in their present competition but manager Colin Williams hopes that the team can be entered into the South West Alliance Under-19 League.
Williams hopes that a second United team can be fielded in next season's Midland Floodlit Under-18 Youth League Southern Division.
