A Hereford woman who helped give a man life saving aid when he collapsed with a heart attack was thrilled to find out he survived after she read last week's Hereford Times.
Ex-army nurse, Linda Mills, from Lower Bullingham was on her way back from a run when she saw Malcolm Evans topple to the ground as she sat in a traffic jam on Aylestone Hill. Ms Mills joined off-duty fire fighter, Philip Major and together they performed CPR and the kiss of life until paramedics arrived.
She said: "I was so pleased that was the first time I knew that the guy survived. As soon as I got home I rang the hospital but they would not tell me anything because I was not a relative."
Leaving her contact details, Ms Mills asked them to pass her number on to Mr Evans' wife, Maureen, so she could find out how he was doing.
When she heard nothing more she feared the worst so she was thrilled to find out that Mr Evans was still alive.
"It is amazing how it comes back to you. The feeling knowing that you have helped to save someone's life - it is just amazing."
